8These are the names of David’s mighty warriors: Josheb-Basshebeth, a Tahkemonite, was chief of the Three; he raised his spear against eight hundred men, whom he killed in one encounter. 9Next to him was Eleazar son of Dodai the Ahohite. As one of the three mighty warriors, he was with David when they taunted the Philistines gathered at Pas Dammim for battle. Then the Israelites retreated, 10but Eleazar stood his ground and struck down the Philistines till his hand grew tired and froze to the sword. The LORD brought about a great victory that day. The troops returned to Eleazar, but only to strip the dead. 11Next to him was Shammah son of Agee the Hararite. When the Philistines banded together at a place where there was a field full of lentils, Israel’s troops fled from them. 12But Shammah took his stand in the middle of the field. He defended it and struck the Philistines down, and the LORD brought about a great victory. 2 Samuel: 23:-8-12
How do you explain such amazing feats of physical endurance? Acumen with the sword? Skill with the spear? God explained it in verse ten, “The Lord brought about great victory that day.” Indeed these were extraordinary victories done by ordinary men. Josheb-Basshebeth struck down eight-hundred men with his spear! Care to give that a try without God’s power? Did I mention that he was an ordinary man?
What power God has. What amazing accounts we read of in the Bible about how He wields that power through ordinary people, to accomplish great things that bring Him praise and reveal more of who He is.
Wouldn’t it be great if we had some of God’s power to do great things for His name that glorify Him and bring Him praise?
Oh…wait…..what did the Apostle Paul pray about?
18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, 19 and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength 20 he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, 21 far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. – Ephesians 1:18-21
This Easter, as you think about the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, marvel at the power that was used to raise Him from the dead. Then consider that God wants our hearts enlightened so that we may know that He is ready to use his extraordinary power for ordinary folks like you and me so that we may glorify God in ways that we could never accomplish without it.
Have a blessed, power-filled Easter.

I got power in my life because of the Person who reigns in me, Jesus Christ and His Spirit. See you later, Rob.
