No one can stop it.

Blood pressure goes down…..

Eyes are glassy…..

Breathing is irregular…..

Pulse is weak…..

Skin color has changed….

Breathing sounds like a “fish out of water”….

What is happening?

Who is this happening to? You may recognize the above as signs that are present just before someone dies.

Isn’t it interesting…..no one is immune. Kings….Presidents……Hollywood stars……Sports legends…….World renown writers……Millionaires…..You……Me…….

No one can stop it. Our bodies
will
react this way someday.

King Solomon got this and before this happened to his body he wrote:

12 Remember your Creator
    in the days of your youth,
before the days of trouble come
    and the years approach when you will say,
    “I find no pleasure in them”—
before the sun and the light
    and the moon and the stars grow dark,
    and the clouds return after the rain;
when the keepers of the house tremble,
    and the strong men stoop,
when the grinders cease because they are few,
    and those looking through the windows grow dim;
when the doors to the street are closed
    and the sound of grinding fades;
when people rise up at the sound of birds,
    but all their songs grow faint;
when people are afraid of heights
    and of dangers in the streets;
when the almond tree blossoms
    and the grasshopper drags itself along
    and desire no longer is stirred.

Then people go to their eternal home
    and mourners go about the streets.

Remember him—before the silver cord is severed,
    and the golden bowl is broken;
before the pitcher is shattered at the spring,
    and the wheel broken at the well,

and the dust returns to the ground it came from,
    and the spirit returns to God who gave it. – Ecclesiastes 12: 1-7

Here is the good news for those who are in Christ Jesus – when out spirit returns to our Creator it will be to dwell with Him for all eternity. You can’t stop yourself from dying, but you can certainly keep yourself living…

Living for His glory.

Living for the good of others.

Living in a way that stores up treasures for you in heaven.

Living as a living sacrifice.

Paul’s words contain a wonderful perspective that is worth embracing:

20 I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death. Philippians 1:20

Exalt Him!

Exalt Him!

Exalt Him!

This is not your home but what you do here will matter for eternity.
