Have you ever just camped out with a thought?
You know. Cozied up with it? Sat with it? Blocked everything else out? Just … focused on it?
Here’s a thought that I think you could spend several days with, and not even begin to plumb the depths of its significance:
Almighty God serves those He created.
Think about it. He is all powerful. All knowing. In control of all things.
And what does He do? He serves the very people He made.
Let’s consider Jesus.
45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve,(A) and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Mark 10:45
That’s right. He came to serve those He created, and to give His life as a ransom for many.
Or how about:
25 Therefore He is able to save(A) completely[a] those who come to God(B) through Him, because He always lives to intercede for them. Hebrews 7:25
He lives to intercede for them.
Would you like an account of this Servant-God?
2 The evening meal was in progress, and the devil had already prompted Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, to betray Jesus.(D) 3 Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power,(E) and that he had come from God(F) and was returning to God; 4 so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist.(G) 5 After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet,(H) drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him. – John 13:2-5
In today’s blog, I don’t want you to get too wrapped up on theology. I want you to just sit with this Servant-God.
He has all under His power, and He washes dirty feet.
After He did so, He said,
13 “You call me ‘Teacher’(M) and ‘Lord,’(N) and rightly so, for that is what I am. 14 Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet.(O) 15 I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.(P) 16 Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master,(Q) nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. 17 Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them. John 13: 17
I don’t want to write any more. I don’t want you to read anymore.
I just want you to be still, and know that this Servant-God is God, and then think about what that means for you.
For Jesus,
Rob
